New notebooks or terminal should open in new tab

When I select New > Terminal, the expected behaviour in Jupyter is that this opens a terminal as a new tab in my browser (Google Chrome).
Instead, the Terminal appears in the same tab and this is annoying because it hinders quick navigation between processes.

NOTE: This seems to be a recent change. All the old paperspace gradient notebooks used to open in a new tab . This has changed to the current behavior (no new tab) has happened in the last month or two. Big vote for going back to the old behavior

lewtun Thanks for the feedback! Agreed that this would be better behavior for classic Jupyter Notebooks. We are moving everything to JupyterLab which has tabs within the Jupyter frame which would solve this. Have you played around with Lab/do you see any detractors of Lab vs classic Notebooks?

dkobran: I'm a big fan of JupyterLab so will be very excited to see it deployed in Gradient! One potential complication to consider is that fact that that JupyterLab's widgets run differently to Jupyter Notebook, so making sure that the fast.ai progress bars continue to work would be important.
